This dish is flavored with smoky paprika and liquid smoke. The spicy marinade gives the chicken a robust flavor. Adapted from the recipe Smoky Chicken with Avocado Sauce by Wendi Polisi.
Paprika is made from a mixture of dried peppers such as bell peppers and chili peppers, finely ground and provides a little punch without being overwhelmingly spicy. The ancho chili powder is reliably sweet with mild heat.
