Mangoes have been part of the human diet for over 4,000 years. Known as the “king” of fruit, they are enjoyed alone or by adding them to smoothies, fruit salads and/or salsas. Fresh mangoes are low in calories and contain beneficial nutrients. Available year-round, mangoes are a healthy addition to your diet. This smoothie was inspired by my love for the 50/50 Orange Cream ice cream bar. But it is so much more healthy for you. It can be made with fresh or frozen mangoes. Mangoes have a unique flavor, fragrance and taste and are sometimes called a “super fruit” because of their health benefits. Originating in the sub-Himalayan plains they are a close relative, biologically, to the cashew and pistachio plants.
