Winter is upon us, for some more than others. Today my daytime temp was 67 degrees F and I was back in shorts. Not bad for the middle of December. This is a great recipe for both ends of the temperature spectrum. Cold and snowy outside or warm and toasty? Stay indoors with this crock-pot recipe with a bar-be-que flavor.
All the ingredients can be placed in the crock-pot before leaving for the day and you have a wonderful dinner waiting for you when you return home. I love using my crock-pot, it frees up my day from cooking so I can do whatever I want to do or that is needed and have a nutritious dinner when work is done.
Chicken – A low fat protein that is rich in phosphorus, an essential mineral that supports your teeth and bones, as well as kidney, liver, and central nervous system functions. High in the amino acid tryptophan it will increase the serotonin levels in your brain, improving your mood and lowering stress levels.
Onions – the phytochemicals and Vitamin support your immune system, contains chromium to help stabilize blood sugar, and they are a scavenger of free radicals. Contains Vitamin B-6 and manganese and small amounts of calcium, iron, folate, magnesium, phosphorus and potassium.
